Quick Start Guide

Your Nova comes fully assembled and ready to use. Simply charge it, add water, load your bowl, and enjoy a smoother, torch-free smoking experience.

Step 1 — Charge the Device

Connect the included USB-C charging cable to the charging port on the base, and the other end to a standard USB wall adapter. The LED will flash while charging and turn solid green when charging is complete. We recommend fully charging the battery before first use. The 2000 mAh battery keeps you in sessions for days between charges.

Step 2 — Fill with Water

Fill the glass chamber with fresh water until the percolator is submerged. Do not overfill — too much water can enter the air pathway during use. If you ever get water in your draw, pour a little out.

Step 3 — Load the Bowl

Remove the magnetic igniter cap, then remove the glass bowl. Fill the bowl with ground dry herb up to the fill line only — overfilling can keep the igniter cap from seating properly and hurt performance. Grind to the consistency of crushed pepper and pack loosely for even heat and room to stir. Make sure the glass bowl is fully seated, reinsert the bowl, and replace the magnetic igniter cap.

Step 4 — Power On

Quickly press the power button five (5) times to turn the device on. Five quick presses turns it off again.

Step 5 — Enjoy

Place your lips on the mouthpiece. Press and hold the power button for approximately 5 seconds to let the heater reach temperature, then begin inhaling while continuing to hold the button. Keep inhaling until you've reached your desired amount of smoke, then release the button. Press the carb lever while continuing to inhale to clear the chamber. Enjoy your session!

After Each Session

Remove the igniter cap, then remove and empty the bowl. Warning: the glass bowl may be hot immediately after use — allow it to cool before handling. Replace the water regularly for the best flavor. Turn the device off by quickly pressing the power button five times.

Nova FAQ

Is the Nova a vaporizer?

No. The Nova is a true-combustion electric bong — it ignites dry herb to produce real smoke, then filters it through water like a traditional bong. Vaporizers heat flower below the burn point and produce vapor, a completely different experience. If you want a vaporizer, check out the Aster dry herb vaporizer.

Do I need a lighter or torch?

Never. The rechargeable electric heating element is the only heat source. Press the button and it ignites your bowl in seconds — and because there's no open flame, wind can't end your session.

What do I use in it?

Ground dry herb, loaded straight into the glass bowl — just like packing any bong. Grind to a crushed-pepper consistency and don't pack tightly.

How do I know when my herb is done?

Stir your herb between cycles. If it's discolored throughout, it's spent. If there's still some color, it's still usable — stir and run another cycle.

How long does the battery last, and how do I charge it?

The 2000 mAh rechargeable battery delivers session after session on a single charge. Recharge over USB-C from any wall adapter, laptop, or power bank. LED flashes while charging; solid green means full.

Can I swap the glass?

Yes — the interchangeable top fits a standard 50 mm glass tube, so you're not locked to one piece of glass. The glass tube, percolator, silicone seal, and bowl all separate for cleaning or replacement.

What does the built-in ash catcher do?

It traps ash before it reaches your water, keeping the water cleaner and hits smoother for longer between cleans. Use the clean-out port at the bottom of the base to empty it.

How to Clean Your Nova

Always make sure the unit and accessories are cool before cleaning.

Warning! Do not poke the heating element with anything or damage to the coil may occur. To clean the coil, run the unit empty for 1–2 cycles.

• Glass tube, percolator & bowl: Clean regularly with 99% isopropyl alcohol or your preferred glass cleaner. Make sure the glass is fully dry before your next session.
• Clogged bowl: If the glass bowl clogs from normal use, soak/clean it with 99% isopropyl alcohol until airflow is restored.
• Ash catcher clean-out port: Open the clean-out port at the bottom of the base and clean with cotton swabs lightly dampened with 99% isopropyl alcohol.
• Igniter cap: Remove and clean with lightly dampened cotton swabs. Keep the contacts clear of debris.
• Electronic base: Clean with cotton swabs or pipe cleaners lightly dampened with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Never immerse the electronic base in water.
• Allow all components to dry completely before reassembly and use.

Warning: Do not overtighten the screw nut during assembly. Overtightening may damage the glass or the device.

Troubleshooting

The LED flashes red when I press the button

The device isn't detecting the igniter cap. Make sure the magnetic igniter cap is securely seated and its contacts are clear of debris. Remove it, wipe the contacts with a dry swab, and reseat it.

The device won't turn on

Confirm you're pressing the power button five times quickly. If there's no response, charge the device for 30+ minutes — the battery may be fully depleted — then try again.

I'm getting water in my draw

The chamber is overfilled. Pour water out until the percolator is just submerged.

Weak airflow or harsh hits

Empty the ash catcher via the clean-out port, replace the water, and check that the bowl isn't packed too tightly or clogged with resin. A quick iso clean of the bowl usually restores airflow completely.

Safety & Care

• For adults 21+ only. Keep away from children and pets at all times.
• The heating chamber is hot when operating — refrain from direct contact and never leave the device unattended while powered on or hot.
• The glass bowl may be hot immediately after use. Allow it to cool before handling.
• Do not poke the heating element with anything — damage to the coil may occur.
• Use only the provided USB-C cable and a standard-voltage adapter. Do not charge in your car, do not overcharge, and do not use a power bank of higher than standard 5V output — incompatible chargers can damage the battery and void the warranty.
• Do not drop, crush, puncture, incinerate, microwave, or attempt to repair/modify the device.
• Never immerse the electronic base in water. Empty the water chamber before transporting or storing.

Warranty Information

The Nova ships with a 1-year limited manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and craftsmanship. Glass and other consumable parts are excluded unless a defect is claimed within the first 14 days. Register your device at dipdevices.com/pages/device-warranty-registration to activate the warranty.
